Our 4 days from Marrakech to Erg Chegaga Dunes start and end in the Red City of Marrakech to explore the South of Morocco. Cross the High Atlas Mountain Tizi N’Tichka pass (2160 meters 7086 Feet). Travel to the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah UNESCO heritage site, which dates back to the 17th century.
Next, you will head to Ouarzazate (the Hollywood of Morocco) due to the movie industry and its famous Atlas Studio where you have the option to tour the studio film. Make your way south to Zagora to stroll through the palm grove of Draa Valley, Tamegroute with its deciphering century-old Quran and Arab treaties and green pottery factory.
Experience the off-road to Erg Chegaga dunes and hop on your camel into the Sahara Desert to witness the sunset on top of the dunes, Berber music around the campfire, and spend the night under the starry sky. Head west to Taroudant named (le petit Marrakech) located beyond the Anti-Atlas, then it’s time to come back to the buzzing Marrakech crossing the Tizi N’Test (2093 meters 6866 Feet).
Start your journey and venture into the Desert of Erg Chegaga. Leaving Marrakech behind, head toward the stunning Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, towns surrounded by fields of oak trees, walnut gardens, and snowy areas.
As we drive through the High Atlas mountain range, take us through the traditional mud-brick homes that you will see along the way. Go up the Tizi n'Tichka Mountain Pass (2260 M-7415 Feet), which connects Marrakech to Ouarzazate and the desert.
We pause to snap pictures of the panoramic view of the winding route and the stunning Atlas Mountain Range, while you stretch your legs, Drive to the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah from the Tizi NT'chka Pass, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou Village.
Once there, it's time to see Ait Benhaddou Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Before ascending to the Old Granary, which offers a panoramic view of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah and the surrounding area, explore the village built from Mud-and- straw mixture through the covered alleyways and stone walls. Leave Ait Benhaddou Kasbah behind and arrive in Ouarzazate a gate to the Sahara Desert, Join the Atlas Movie Studio visit (optional ) to see and learn how the Atlas Studio film featured in many movies.
Continue to Zagora pass a few small villages including Ait Saouen Village, and drive up the windy road which turns its way through dark orange calcified ridges after breaking through the pass of Tizi n'Tinififft and descends to Agdez, where you can admire the immense Draa valley view panoramic.
Leaving Agdez then you will follow the Draa Valley direction to the south along the dense palm trees till you reach your destination which is Zagora, where your driver - guide brings you to your staying Zagora.
You will explore today the Jewish quarter of Amzerou and the enormous palm trees groove, then travel to M'hamid Village, on the way you will visit Temgroute is Saadian village from the 16th century where you will see the Sufi Zawiya, an underground village with its local library which has century-old Qurans and Arab treaties on astronomy and science nicely arranged behind glass windows
Temgeroute carries a traditional factory of green pottery well-known throughout Morocco, and it is fascinating to watch the shaping and baking of the pottery pots and dishes inside traditional earth ovens, which is typical for this village.
Continue to the village of M'hamid, after crossing Jbel Bani and the last village before Sahara Desert and the end of Draa Valley. For the next two hours to reach the Erg Chegaga dunes will be off-road, Starting the Rocky Desert which leads to Sand dunes of Erg Chegaga.
You will be in Erg Chigaga and its enormous sand dunes just before sunset. Prepare to get on your dromedary to make your way across the dunes to get to the top where you can admire the sunset.
Then you will come back to your camp to enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the evening around the campfire with Berber Music. dance and feel the rhythm of Berber music or you can walk outside the camp and watch the starry sky with its countless shooting stars, then you will sleep in a nomad-style tent.
Should you have missed the sunrise ...Get up early to witness the first rays of sunlight over the dunes then climb down to have your breakfast before hopping on your 4x4 wheel drive follow the old Paris-Dakar route to reach Lac Iriki dry nowadays But it becomes a swamp during the rainy season, once we reach the stony desert known as The Hamada, we will have finally reached the small town of Foum Zguid.
Continue to the Berber village of Taznakht where you will stop for Lunch and then travel over the Anti-Atlas Mountain Range.
Taliouine Village is well known for its Rug weaving center and Berber carpets trade, these carpets are mostly produced by Women and each rug is a unique handmade product.
Travel north to Taliouine Village which is well-known for its Saffron production, and is the most expensive spice in the world. this area produces appro 3176 kg of spice each year, Morocco as a whole is 4th in global production after Iran, India, and Greece, and the harvest is late October and Early November.
Continue to Taroudant over the Anti-Atlas mountain, which is known as 'little Marrakech' due to its similar surrounding walls. you can take your time to explore after you settle into your hotel or Riad.
You will start today exploring Taroudant (the little Marrakech ) old Medina and surrounded ramparts, which were built by the Saadi Sultans back in the 16th Century when the city was their capital and the main military base to attack the Portuguese on the Atlantic coast.
The visit includes gates such as Bab Selsla,Bab TARGONT, and Bab Oueld Banouna . Walk around the Berber Souks An -Nasr Square where you can find all kinds of local Products.
Leave Taroudant behind to Marrakech, and head to Ouelad Berhil where the rise of Tizi N'Tast starts quickly in the middle of the Argan trees. Along the Tizi N'Test, The valleys offer a view of Berber traditional villages built from a mud-straw mixture.
You'll make your way to Tinmel Mosque built by the Almohad dynasty in the 12th century and the spiritual home of one of the founders of the Almohad Dynasty Ibn Toumart it was considered a holy place before, but it can be visited nowadays. We drive through the berber village and beautiful landscape. We passed through Berber villages and beautiful landscapes where we can also see goats climb argan trees .
We will make stops for photos and a stop for lunch on the way . In the afternoon we get to Marrakesh , drop off at Your Accommodation. End of Our Service.
